Necessities and Stuff.
Grasping for any and all advice I can get my hands regarding raising twins and conquering sleep deprivation, I think I've officially read every book on raising multiples that exist. I fear my librarian thinks I'm the next Octonutter.
In the end, all the pundits agree on just THREE BASIC NECESSITIES.
1) A sense of humor in the morning.
2) A sense of humor in the afternoon.
3) A sense of humor in the wee hours of the night.
And the bonus tidbit: when the babies cry, pee before attending to them, it may be the last chance for a bathroom break in the next 3 hours.
Happy Easter Peeps.
WHAT? You don't like PEEPS? Just don't tell me you eat black jelly-beans. BLECH!
That's some great advice. I hope you have a Happy Easter!
"Octonutter" (Snort!)
I love peeps. And black jelly beans.
Love the "bathroom" advice ~ somewhere along the line through my two pregnancies, I got to become like Pavlov's dog. It doesn't matter that my kids are now 7 and almost-5, if I hear them at night, I have to pee. Regardless of how many times I've already gone, regardless of how many times they might wake me up at night. I simply have to empty my bladder when I hear kids at night. Weird, eh?
Seriously.
(Sorry, was that TMI?)
I think your blog title says it all. It will be whatever works for you.
And I don't eat black jelly beans.
Happy Easter--have a peep for me; I'll be eating all the black jelly beans! Sorry friend.
As for the twins--welp--I have no clue, but I do believe only the strong are choosen for the big jobs and you my friend appear to already be a mighty mom--you'll do great!
I love both Peeps AND black jelly beans. They are my two favorite Easter candies.
P.S. It's a good thing you have a great sense of humor!
Happy Easter Momma to Be!
ps - I don't eat peeps of any jelly beans!
Actually, when you first announced your good news I was tempted to leave a comment saying that at least you've got a great sense of humor on your side! I opted for the more positive, "congratulations."
You're gonna do great! For reals. :) Happy Easter!
They were right. Totally right. The other great advice is to get organized before they come so you at least start out on the right foot, but that may be impossible at this point if you already have kids. I had two toddlers already and was 5 months pregnant when I read that advice and now the twins are almost 7 and I'm finally just starting to get organized. SO, if you can still squeeze in any order, go for it while you still can.
I hate Peeps. I love the RED jelly beans. And that bit about peeing? So true. Schedule. Schedule. Schedule. I know what I am talking about. email me;)
Peeps are SO nasty.
I can't get my photo to upload. Darn blogger. Guess I will have to keep trying!
Yes - tee hee - a sense of humor is definitely a must! And ... schedules - keep them on the same schedule - it will save your life!!! And dress them as close alike as possible - less thinking and who cares what everyone else thinks!! I'm still alive - you'll do fine - you will!!! Come by and see what that one (dupid) twin of mine did - it only gets more and more fun - ugh!
Take care and love the Peps! Kellan

I love it!
And, I'm so copying the bathroom advice. That should be told to all moms!
And, I love black jelly beans (but I like Peeps, too)....don't hate me...love me!
I wouldn't touch a black jelly bean with a ten foot pole. But I also wouldn't touch a peep either.
I'd recommend the bathroom advice only if these babies were your first. When the second and in your case third kids come on the scene most moms realize that you can let your babies cry for a few minutes while you attend to your needs.
Oh, second babies never cry as much as the first. Really!
ooops - i eat the black ones - sorry! but i also love the blue ones, the white ones, the dark pink ones, the green ones, orange ones... yellow - not so much
LOVE the peeps. When I was pregnant with the twinkies I asked a woman about her pregnancy, how long she carried them, did she get put on bed rest, etc...She told me she did get put on bed rest and that she wasn't going to tell me how long and then she said 'the only advice I have for you is to stop reading'
If a sense of humor is all you need you will do great! ;) Black jelly beans? They make them? Weird.
I will try nd remember the advice for when I have kids.
Sounds like good advice. And I LOVE Peeps!
lol, I like that pic!
Happy Easter.
What if I tell you that I eat peeps AND black jelly beans?
Have a wonderful Easter.
I'm a total Peeper.
I love mah peeps ;)
Hope you get some sleep this Easter!
Yep, I learned the pee thing early on, too. I don't have multiples, but I have three.
happy easter to you.
btw...
i LOVE peeps AND black jelly beans.
lol, octonutter. ha.
I love peeps, I have eating way too many this easter season and my waist line has seen better days.
I like peeps. I like to put them in the microwave on a paper plate and watch them try to devour each other ;)
And now you're making me go to the pantry and get the jar of jelly beans... Starburst jelly beans to be exact, no black ones!
TGIF!
Tink *~*~*
Not-so-hidden Mickey
Happy Easter and remember this too shall pass and you will be on to a new challenge. good advice to pee first!
I can't really explain why I eat peeps. Must be the sugary crusty coating? ;)
No octupleting? Kay?
I would think a sense of humor is a definite necessity. :)
I hate Peeps, btw - but I love black jelly beans. ;)
Well...I do like the Peeps photo. And must confess to loving those black jelly beans. I am a licorice maniac.
Thinking of you and soon your very own new peeps!
Happy Peeps! You seem to have a great sense of humor, save some up for later!
I like peeps... if they are stale. and I LOVE black jelly beans!!! YUMMMMM!!!
I can eat a few peeps before my head explodes in a sugary furry headache...but its cool because Jon inhales them. :)
LOVE the peeps shot!!
One of my friends had twins. They were babies 3 & 4. She took one and he took the other for the over night hours. Seemed to work for them.
Best of luck, I can't wait to read along on your adventures! :)
Happy Easter! I loved growing up a twin... I'm so excited for you!!
bathroom advice important!!
Also be prepared to not sleep for the next 2 years.....
I would do twins again (really I would!) It was not easy, but oh how worth it and how amazing it has been to watch them grow, I can hardly believe they will be 5 in July and attending school come Aug! My babies?!
I am fully with you on peeing first. Otherwise, the mama will need a change too.
I definitely don't do black licorice, but Peeps are a little too grainy for me. Your bright pink bunny Peeps make a great photo, though!
I think you'll be fine - seems your sense of humor is working fine! You made me laugh with this post! Come over to my blog and laugh at my pics of Britney Spears!
That is great advie even if you are not having twins.
Love peeps and only eat red and orange jelly beans. The black ones are the worst.
Have a great Easter !!!!!
Happy Easter!
Once the hard bit's over, having twins will be great fun. Do you get any help from outside agencies at the beginning? (Here in the UK if you have twins and already have a child you are entitled to help for a few hours a week - my friend had it and said it was a godsend)
A good sense of humor is a necessity when raising children.
It's also a necessity when working in a hospital ~ with children.
Peeps? Ewwwwwww gross.
Black jelly beans ~ even worse!!
LOL hope you keep your sense of humour!
A sense of humor will get you through just about anything!!!!
And black jelly beans are vile!
Peeps rock ... frozen Peeps are even better!
Happy Easter!
You gotta dig through Looky Daddy's archives sometime and get a little more perspective on twins. Heh.
Black jelly beans?? Blech!
Good advice there! ;)
And Peeps...well, they're good for making dioramas! ha!
Mmmm Peeps are lovely - especially as they get stale. ;) But black jelly beans *gag* only freaks like my daughter like those things. *L* And she won't share them either. Ugh. I don't know who she got that from.
That pee advice is some good stuff.
I looooove peeps, and HATE black jelly beans, so thankfully, we're cool. ;)
I LOVE Peeps, although I know a lot of people don't.
That's funny about peeing before you tend to them. I STILL need to learn that lesson...
Happy Easter! : )
ha, i love the peeing advise...that is GREAT.
Accept HELP, when you CAN...and ASK for help when you NEED it.
that's my advice!
I do NOT like peeps, but love your photo..as always!
good advice, I don't like marshmallow
but give me anything chocolate and I'm good
Peeps are hit or miss. Some years they are great some years I just think they're totally overkill. Either way though, W.W. will have easter egg hunting today, tomorrow, and then again at Grandma's. Maybe Easter is just overdone this year. ;)
As for your 3 tips, why, yes being able to laugh will help you survive just about anything. I try to remember that too with my step kids and then little one. LOL
That pee advice? Best EVER. And I love stale peeps only - is that weird?
Yeah, I am.
Happy Easter to you as well! First time over here at your blog, very nice! I will be back! :)

A sense of humor is needed when having kids...it makes you younger! :)
Happy Easter!
mmm.... peeps
did you try the chocolate ones? and the peppermint? and the vanilla?
yummy
You know, some people NEVER would think to mention something like that potty before kids thing....GENIUS, really!
Oh, and blah on black j.beans. Nummo....peeps!
I think you are ahead of the game with keeping your sense of humor. Your posts always make me laugh. Love the picture too. I'll take Peeps over black jelly beans any day!
Ha ha ha. I think that Octonutter might be one of my new favorite words!
I came by Hilary's blog after seeing her design for your new book release. I can't believe I've never visited your blog before. Shame on me!
I only have one, so no advice from me. But I know a sense of humor is a necessity with any child, so that seems like great advice to me.
"when the babies cry, pee before attending to them, it may be the last chance for a bathroom break in the next 3 hours."
Words of wisdom no matter how many babies you are having.
Have you seen this...?

Too funny. Happy Easter!
There should be a way to store up sleep like chipmunks store food for the winter. The inability to do so is a serious flaw in a mother's world. Where do we file a complaint?
No peeps for me. I'm all about the chocolate.
I LOVE peeps, and yes, I hate black jelly beans. Blech.
Twins. Oh boy. Can't help ya there. But at least you've got the sense of humor that is apparently needed! ;)
I DO like black jelly beans...heehee!
And here is a shocker for you I don't think I have ever tried peeps :) Yup that is right never.
Great pic :)
No black jelly beans for me either.
Regarding the sense of humor, I'm sure you have lots of it - what you write in your blog seems to indicate so! :)
black jelly beans, black licorice, anise in my candy and witches brew candles-- I'll take it all thankyouverymuch.
Great peeps photo, "Octonutter"naut (get it, not?) never mind, I'm tired too.
That is fine advice.. especially the peeing part. ;)
Great macropeeps!
I'm struggling with at least 2 and a half of those point. Crudmugeon. Me thinks you will be the gal that can swing it though. Especially if you're all hopped up on Peeps. (and I'll have mine stale please....mmm...)
It doesn't matter if I like Peeps or not, that is an AMAZING photo!
I love your "twins advice..." especially the peeing part! I do that when there is only one in the house that needs my immediate attention!
I like Peeps, they're yummy. I have some waiting for me at home. (Easter goodies from my mommy) And I'm with ya on black jelly beans. Yuck.
Stale peeps ROCK.
