Just Your Average Meltdown.
Besides completing all of the mandatory job requirements, all I really aimed to accomplish today was to take a decent photograph of a snowflake with my macro lens (inspired by one of my faves).
Shooting stomach style outdoors is no longer an option these days, so when Toddler finished shoveling the snowbanks back ONTO the driveway, we eagerly hurried back inside with his mittens full of the white stuff.
But, once again, I underestimated the time it took to undress a toddler from a snowsuit (which is TRULY the worst part of winter) and all I got was this lousy snowflake afterbirth.
Which still makes a very cool picture! You are very talented with that macro lens!
Wow, that is so visually fascinating and interesting to the eye. I find myself just staring at all those wild fibers! What macro lens did you use?
I totally love the picture!! It looks super neat :D
Listen girl, even your snowflake-AFTERBIRTH pics are the coolest. I don't really think you are capable of taking a bad pic...which is really humbling for the rest of us! ;)
Still love the picture...better luck next time!
I would love to see a perfect little snow flake, but I love this image - very cool and almost sad.
Hope you (all) are doing well!! I think about you all the time and wish I lived right next door to you so I could come over and touch your tummy every now and then!
Have a great weekend - Kellan
It may not be what you wanted...but MAN that's a nifty shot!
I have a macro lens too and always wondered if I could do that.
Great shot!
Love that shot! It's very interesting to look at! Can you pass along some of your talent my way? :)
Toddler + snowsuit = bad combination ;)
Cool shot! I so want a macro lens. I have one for my film camera and I really miss using it.
i am stunned at how cool this shot is.
i'm so glad i don't have toddler-snowsuit interface issues.
well, it's still a cool photo!!!
I love that picture. It is so cool looking.
Wow, I have never seen snow flake afterbirth before, felt it but never really looked at it. That is one very cool photo!
Such a fantastic shot... makes me long for one macro lens.
At least he'll touch snow. It is a great shot anyway.
Oh Lawd Girl - you ARE pregnant. One women's women's melted snowflake is another woman's afterbirth.
That's a GREAT shot. Hope you're keeping well.
That is a funny story! I do like how the melted snowflakes look on the mitten though!
"after birth"--I love it! Either way, it's a cool pic. But, you always have beautiful pics!
Still pretty. Afterbirth and all;)
What a great one. I so love your macro shots, they rock. I too have tried to get some snow pics but all I seem to get is ice.
Snowflake afterbirth?!?
That brings so many things to my mind, that I just should not even go into here.
I think that shot is gorgeous -- way to make lemonade from lemons! (Sorry, that's the best I could think of).
I hope the pregnancy is going well for you -- I still get a chill down my back whenever I think about twins...but YOU, you're going to be great!
What? No pictures while laying on the belly? How about some pictures of the belly??? Please!!!
I think that looks awesome. I never would have guessed it was a snow suit.
I'm not sure I'd have figured out what that was if you hadn't told me.
Cool shot, afterbirth or not.
Hope you're feeling good!
It may not be what you intended but still an awesome photo. Look at the texture and detail.
I have tried a few snowflake pics also, and can't get them fast enough!
Afterbirth, hahahah. You're too funny. Thanx for making me blush!
I kept my snowflakes outside to do them. I just caught them on some black foamboard and carried them into the garage. :)
Keep trying. :)
LOL, if it makes you feel better.....my snowflakes were out of focus blobs.
yes Miss Lisa is quite fabulous!!
But - I LOVE your shots as well - you and she inspire me to take better photos!
That's lousy? Looks pretty awesome to me.
very cool image!! Hope your nausea is getting better!!!
Having four little ones, I am thankful to live in Arizona where seven months a year are shorts and sandals, but I do miss the snow a tiny little bit and there are no opportunities for snow afterbirth!!
Even melted, it's cool! I mean, you know, *cool.* You know what a mean. Your macro shots are so amazing.
It's still a great shot. But man, I certainly concur on the dressing/undressing toddler being the worst part of winter.
It is still a pretty cool picture!
cool pic
really cool
Well it's still an interesting photo! Snowflake afterbirth - that's funnnnyyy! I tried to photograph snow flakes the other night too but they were weird icy masses that looked like...weird icy masses in the photo!
ummm it might not be what you were after....but lovely indeed.
Happy PSF!
That was funny but it still made a good photo!
That is the BEST pic. Snowflake afterbirth..LOL you always crack me up!
Not what you wanted but still a very interesting photo. You always manage to make the most mundane things look fantastic.
Hope you'll start feeling better soon.
That's a great photo! And a great idea (PSF). Have a great day!
That is truly an awesome picture!! The fine detail with the water droplets, fibers and color...LOve it!
What a neat photo. Love it.
i couldn't agree more. my jada (se my post from yesterday) screams to go and play in the snow, then cries bc it's cold or she's scared. grrrr. there's 3 little ones to get dressed...at least the teen can handle herself!!!
WOW, amazing! I want that for my desktop wallpaper!

You've captured some lovely water droplets, good luck with capturing a snowflake. Between pregnancy and toddler the odds are against you. ;) But then I feel the same way about a lot of things too.
O, it's not lousy! It's a great macro :)
It's an excellent picture! Love it! I hope you had fun outside enjoying the snow. :)
Now that is one clever PSF. I do understand the snow on the driveway, the undressing of the toddler, and the major messy meltdown of disappointment that occurs when you realize you are just all wet--again.
The picture is really cool though. I so envy your camera AND the lens(es) you have. someday....
Great picture! I can't seem to do much with the macro setting on my new camera, you've given me motivation to try harder.
Ahhh, these are the types of photos that make me want to say 'to heck with the budget' & hit the camera store.
Great 'afterbirth' photo.
That's the prettiest afterbirth I've ever seen. Ha!
How are you feeling? Sickness still with you?
But that is totally cool!
It might not be a snowflake but it's still a beautiful picture. Well done!
I love this photo! I've seen snowflake photos before but not one like this. The detail is amazing! I think you got just as good a shot! You are so talented!
I really like that photo! :)
I always wondered what snowflake afterbirth looked like.
And WOW--Lisa's photos are awesome! I shiver w/ camera, lens and talent envy.
My little Kodak is looking mighty pitiful w/ all you uber talented photogs . . .
Afterbirth yes... but still beautiful nonetheless.
Great, great shot!
That's still a pretty darn good shot!
Sorry I forgot all about posting my PSF. I even had it ready but I'm a goof. I'll save it for next week.
Hope all is well, friend. I miss chatting with you!
I love this shot! It’s beautiful... magical even.
I can't imagine what my mom went through with six kids, all one right after another in age, our formative years were in Connecticut. And we LOVED the snow... even if she didn't! lol
still LOVE it.
That's better than the intended pic! Love it!
Your "lousy" is astonishing.
It may not be snow anymore but it's an absolutely gorgeous photo!
What a beautiful picture!
wow. seriously.
Still captures the burrr frost...you can always tell your story thru the lens!
You're right, that's totally "lousy." OR NOT!!
Hope you are feelin' good these days. Stay warm!
Still an amazing picture!! I hope you're feeling better.
I still think it makes a cool picture!! Those macro lens are super cool!!
That makes a wondeful shot. There'll be more snowflakes. You just captured a different moment. :)
You really are a wizz with a macro lens! I love that image, it's somehow very relaxing to look at.
I still think it's a winning shot. You didn't need to tell us what you were trying for (although I giggled at the image of you trying to get a shot while lying on your belly-- I saw you as a cartoon character, high centered).
ok, not so funny?
Ah, yes: STS (Slow Toddler Syndrome). I know thee well.
Still a cool shot, though.
Your "lousy" picture still beats any of my amazing pictures, that's for sure!!
ps: are we gonna get belly shots of you throughout this pregnancy?
Very cool picture, even though it wasn't a snowflake. Love teh afterbirth...and that was something I though I would never utter. ;)
Seriously, it takes forever to get kids in and out of their various snow wear. I long for summer when you can just put on shoes (or not) and go outside. Can't wait.
But it's still an extremely cool picture. That's got to count for something, right?
I bet you get the opportunity again very soon, no? Happy Groundhog Day.
Still a groovy shot!
btw any ideas why the 'mr linky' thing doesn't appear on either my pc or my laptop? I've had to link in to PSF at work which isn't really allowed.
Too funny! But such a beautiful intriguing photo none-the-less. I don't know if I could live someplace where I had to put the kids in snowsuits often. I can barely get them to school on time putting shoes on their feet!
I just don't know what to say about snowflake afterbirth, but I still love the photo :o)
WOW that's an AWESOME SHOT!
Woman! Have you considered selling prints of these on Etsy? They are fan-tabulous!
I can imagine how hard that picture would be to take.
Gregory can undress like a flash. That is when he wants to do something.
yeah the pic is still interesting although the description of it (afterbirth) made me lol
still a great shot
Those photos are so difficult to capture. I spent ages working on mine, and ended up with something okay but not great. Funnily enough, all I could think when posting them was how much better a job you would have done when faced with the flakes I had! Truly.
It's been FOREVER! You've been missed, great to see you, thanks for coming back to my blog and commenting.
I took a break for a while, but am 'back' and trying to be a little more dedicated. As long as blogging stays fun and I'm enjoying it, I'll work to keep plugging away at it :)
Thanks again for popping by, I hope you'll continue to return :)
You are so not finding out the gender on to drive your doctor and family crazy! LMAO
I can't wait to find out though. We'll see which one of us hits labor first. hehehehe :)
Still beautiful!
The best thing about kids getting older BESIDES using the bathroom themselves is dressing and undressing themselves. My sympathies!
Sent before intended. But my 4-year-old dressed herself in summer clothes today. Granted I don't live in North Dakota, but it's not warm until the afternoon, and only briefly, and it's NEVER warm in the house. I guess I should be happy she has snow boots on with her short sleeves and shorts?
I like the photo and have decided that dressing your kids for snow playing SUCKS!
Very cool. Looks like another planet.
Wow, fascinating!!
