I wouldn't call him ugly, more like odd looking or curiously intriguing. I love macro shots of bugs. I'm not sure why since I am NOT a bug fan normally.
Well, when you see them that close up it gives you a different perspective, doesn't it? Normally I DO think catepillars are cute but, um, I think I like them better from far away. ;)
Awesome pic. But I gotta tell ya...its the really icky, ugly, slimy looking caterpillars who make butterflies. The cutsie soft ones....yeah. They make moths. ;)
Your pictures are awesome...just please don't take a closeup of a spider..yikes. It's all this talk of lenses and filters that put me off...want so much to join in the fun but have just a simple digi camera..point and click variety, and forget to take it out with me, better stick to the stories I guess.
I had a really ugly childhood, and then one day in my 20s I decided to get over it. I read 2 corinthians 5:16...and was reminded that I am a NEW CREATION.
SO I celebrated by getting a really big Butterfly tattoo;-)
I loved caterpillars when I was younger. And know what I love now? Your amazing macro lens. Makes me drool every time. I need to get me one of those. ...and the camera it's attached to ;)
Carlin may be right, but I think that's because butterflies fly around and people see them more often. I think there is something very cool about caterpillars especially the bright green ones. :)
It's a wonderful shot. Although the spines say don't pick that one up though.
Holy cow! That is a cool picture- I love it. Your photography is amazing...I feel lame saying that because I know I say it every single time, but it really is :)
The butterfly may be beautiful but I think caterpillars are cute...And cute goes very far in my book. I used to collect them as a child...never fed them though...I just never thought about that part. oops
Wow, I'm the 1st to comment? I should get an award! hehehe You're so popular...I'm usually #283928 or something! hahaha
Yeah, me and bugs don't mix. I loath them. I'll have nightmares now. Thanx.
ha.
~melody~
kind of like birth and women, huh. *giggling*

WHAT LENS DO YOU SHOOT WITH?
And what body? Filter? Do you have a post on this anywhere?
Will Search. Might E-mail.
Not you, little fellow! You're beautiful.
Wow, he's so ... furry? You do the best macro shots!
I think he's cute.
Emma is fascinated with caterpillars.
Wow! Once again, I'm amazed at your mad skillz! I swear, when I finally get my camera, I'm flying up there for lessons from you. :)
I was just looking for a caterpillar today. They're amazing.
I wouldn't call him ugly, more like odd looking or curiously intriguing. I love macro shots of bugs. I'm not sure why since I am NOT a bug fan normally.
Love love love the catepillar. He looks like he is hugging that blade of grass for all of his life!
You should get one of those catepillar to butterfly kits. It was so much fun!
Absolutely amazing.
Please share with us lowly wannabes! What are you using.
That is fantastic.
He looks so soft. Are they? I'm gonna have to go find one and check...
Hang on buddy! My daughter loves to pick up caterpillars much their (and my) dismay. You must have gotten way down to get this shot, nice job.
This is an absolutely wonderful photo.
Have a great Wordless Wednesday.

They make moths. ;)

So true! Great photo!
I was just thinking this afternoon that I need to get my camera out and play with it more - not been too motivated lately!
Take care - Kellan
I guess that's what they call delayed gratification. :)
I just chewed the inside of my cheek
Oooh up close and personal. Great shot! :)
WOW! I just love your macro - and you always find such different things to shoot each week. The detail in this is amazing - look at that caterpillar!
You may be the single most person to ever convince me that a caterpillar is beautiful...wow!
Stunning shot! And congratulations on Post Of The Day with authorblog!
Oh man...that shot is amazing, again! How do you do it?? I love caterpillars. I think they are cute too.
Two questions..where do you find these guys? And how do you have the time to get that perfect shot?
As long as there is just one, they are cute, but when they swarm...yuck!
Your pictures are awesome...just please don't take a closeup of a spider..yikes.
It's all this talk of lenses and filters that put me off...want so much to join in the fun but have just a simple digi camera..point and click variety, and forget to take it out with me, better stick to the stories I guess.
Wow! What a great photo! The detail is incredible. First time here and I am going to read more!
I had a really ugly childhood, and then one day in my 20s I decided to get over it. I read 2 corinthians 5:16...and was reminded that I am a NEW CREATION.

Oh it's so cute!! I've always liked caterpillars though.
Your pictures are always amazing! The caterpillar is so cute and fuzzy!
Please don't start taking pictures of really big spiders.
Wow, that's insane! Such and awesome shot - and totally true. They're rad little buggers.
Oh, how I love your macro bug shots. You are the renowned queen of them. :)
They remind me of being a kid again and watching all those little critters. I move too fast nowadays and end up stepping on them. ;)
So true so true
You caught the glory of this unsung creature. I wandered over from David's.
I'm visiting from Dave's, too.
Do you suppose they freak out when they first emerge from the cocoon and notice that most of their legs are missing?
That's an incredible shot!
Ahh, he's a furry little fellow who needs lots of love. Such a crisp, sharp photo.
I loved caterpillars when I was younger. And know what I love now? Your amazing macro lens. Makes me drool every time. I need to get me one of those. ...and the camera it's attached to ;)
What an absolutely stunning shot!

Well, I like 'em hairy so I think he is just adorable ;)
My daughter got a butterfly house for her birthday and we grew some caterpillars and eventually released the butterflies- super cool!
and my pictures are the catepillar to your butterfly pictures!
This is an amazing picture...such detail!
well isn't that just the way of the world?
just like my workplace! LOL
Awesome photo!!
Although not a caterpillar fan (too many legs for me), this one cute. It seems to be a bit furry, and fur is cute. EXCELLENT shot!
Dang, I wish I knew how to do in writing that construction-guy-whistling-at-pretty-girl whistle. I'd do it now.
WOW - this is one beautiful caterpillar!
Hey Chicky, I have been busy killing myself slowly with running:P Great shot:)
Holy cow! That is a cool picture- I love it. Your photography is amazing...I feel lame saying that because I know I say it every single time, but it really is :)
Not me! That is one fabulous critter!!!
I think you are Kick Arse!
Beautiful pic! But not enough to convince me to like caterpillars. Too wormy for me.
Spectacular!
I left an award for you on my blog! I also tagged you for a meme.
but I'd rather hold them than a cockroach, really
(with tissue paper of course)
Awesome!
~AirmanMom returning to her blog...
Seriously excellent.
Well one of this guys not as fancy friends ate up almost all my jalapenos that were almost ready to be picked!
WOW!
The butterfly may be beautiful but I think caterpillars are cute...And cute goes very far in my book. I used to collect them as a child...never fed them though...I just never thought about that part. oops
You're my photo-hero!
NOTHING ugly about that . . . quite honestly, I relate much more to the caterpillar than the butterfly :)
very cool shot. reminds me of eric carle and his genius illustrations.
