PhotoStory Friday: Another Art Attack.
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek
Oh how I love summer. I love being able to do the messy crafts outdoors wherein I can clean it up with a hose. My son loves to paint and so we do it often.
I must pause right here and thank Mrs. Inventor for creating WASHABLE paints, crayons and markers. I bow down.
For every masterpiece he creates I think, wow, this kid has definite artist potential.
Then. After I took this shot, we came in and he used a Sharpie PERMANENT marker all over our futon. So perhaps I should have been more specific (and locked up the Sharpies). I think my artist may be wanting to specialize in graffiti.

Oh me oh my! Sharpie ATTACK!! My 9 year old says he still remembers I kept the sharpies hostage until he was 7. I'm terrified of those things! UR a brave one for encouraging the art attack! But it sure does look like fUn!
I LOVE that shot! Very cool. VERY!!
I need to do more outdoor things that can be hosed off. But Sharpies? Oh, a big no no!
Sharpies are not kind.....did you try to get it out with cheap hairspray....yes, your old 1980's friend Aquanet. If you spray it on it fairly heavily, then scrape at it, it might come out. Then spray the futon with CampDry...it makes things not stick as easily!
Oh yeah, cool shot....I was getting all confused since you had this tonight for a Friday thingy!
This is one of the reasons I LOVE your style...you have a wonderfully artistic way of looking at motherhood. And I adore it.
Your shot? Perfection.
Sorry about the Sharpie. I have a major love hate relationship with those suckers.
What a great shot! The colors. The textures.
The futon? My opinion is that all furniture, cars, etc. when we have children is disposable and will be replaced when children reach age of, ummm... better neatness?
Hmm . . . no better reason to get a fancy new futon cover :)
Not the Sharpies on the futon! Oh no!
That paint looks so gooey.
Very cool picture! I'm not a fan of paint of any sort - HA!
Have a good evening - Kellan
I read a post where the kid literally used one on the white carpet? A coach cover? Is there one you might like? He's in his Jackson Pollack phase.
This photo is amazing! I love the color and the creativity! And the sweet little fingers. :-)
You take such creative photos. They're so inspiring!
That's a really great picture!
Awesome shot. Love the paint. You must post a shot of his creations! But that really sucks on the sharpie. Any idea what you can do to get it out?
Sharpies! Ugh! I've taken all of mine hostage. :) Great picture! :)
wow. What a cool photo.
Do you sit around all day with a camera up to your eye waiting for the prefect shot?? I am so jealous! :)
sometimes creativity is only good to a point. haha.
Love the shot! Oh, I agree on the washables...such a great invention. Our kids actually drew on our cream carpet with blue permanent marker. I used the pet stain carpet spray right away and it got it out...amazingly enough. I think you just need to act really quick. You can yell while you are cleaning, right?? ;)
That is an awesome shot! I love it!
Oh dear. That is a major drag.
My daughter likes to get crazy messy too.
I feel your pain. My children work exclusively in permanent mediums.
That shot is really great!
I keep thinking about how...colorful...that paint is, and how tan my sofa is.
Amazing shot!
Sharpies are phenomenally damaging in the chubby hands of toddlers...
Save the futon...it might be worth big money some day when your son is "discovered!"
That photo is very satisfyingly gloopy.
I think the word is unctuous.
what a totally cool capture. I love the string of finger paint. totally ROCKS!!!!!!!
happy PSF!
I love Sharpies.
I also love Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
Too bad he don't work on sofas.
Sorry, sista.
My carpet cries with you.
You're a very kind and patient mommy. I'm blowing a gasket at the thought!!
The oopie, goopie paint consistency just drives the point home. I guess you could say it drives the "sharpie" point home ;-)
Speaking of sharpies, you reminded me of this post from way, way back when. I think I'll have to start brushing up on such catastrophic cleaning tips.
Sharpies on the Futon! EEK, I feel your pain. My husband would FREAK if that happened here. Which reminds me of a past post you may enjoy.
Let's just say that the washables are hard to get off skin in some circumstances.
Love the picture.
Yep, lock up the permanents, and the glue, and the highlighters, and the scissors, ............
Great photo again; I could just stick my fingers in that paint!
Beautiful texture on a memorable, creative shot.
Oh....... What a mess! At first I thought it was strawberry juice!
What a good Mom - encouraging that artistic potential! I used to do that, before I learned they exercise it with out ANY encouragement and despite discouragement.
Such a cool pic!
THIS is the coolest shot! And I'm so glad I'm not the only great mama with sharpies in the house ;-) (and why can't Magic eraser come up with an upholstery eraser?!)
LOL....oh yes. We had a little graffiti artist in our house, too, at one time. Thankfully she outgrew that!!
Little Dragon (4yrs old) has done this ... not on purpose though I think. However, I beautiful leather couches have black marker on them now.
One of my favorite indoor art activities is to use those pudding cups and let the kids finger paint on the shower/tub walls. Easy to clean up, and they have lots of fun painting and eating! Cool PSF--and mine is up--sort of long, but lots of memories.
I'll miss the next two as I will be vacationing but I'll be back!
TM
Ohhh I still don't let mine have the sharpies. And they're almost 17....
Well, Sharpies are fun. And graffiti is cool looking. It's only natural to put the two together.
I love the way the paint drips here.
I forgot to leave a comment yesterday. How rude! I love the colors in this pic & the memories it evokes. Evokes- how's that for a big word! :D
Not a sharpie! Not on the futon! Oh no...
I love the sticky gooey-ness photo though. I let my daughter use those to decorate her pumpkin last year. Lovely :)
Awesome shot! I had attack of the sharpie a couple of weeks ago too. OH NO, is all I can say about that!
Oh no! Yeah, I try to keep the Sharpies out of reach, but Daddy has a habit of leaving them within reach of little hands. Thankfully they haven't discovered very many of them (yet).
I love the photo - the colors, the clarity, so awesome! :)
YOU TAKE FABULOUS PHOTOS!!!!!!
My daughter, when she was two, took crayons (chinese brand) and wrote all over the walls(which were plaster), sofas, desk, table, any free surface she could find - in our apt in China. She was a disaster with crayons. They were banned from our household for a couple of years!
Yes, we have THAT kind of artist round here too. Love the paint dripping off the finger -- wonderful shot!
Oh, Sharpies . . . now, we need someone to create some magic Sharpie eraser juice.
Since J eats everything . . . I used plain yogurt and food coloring. The food coloring stained . . . he was a rainbow of color for awhile. He was just so pretty . . .
Hi there! Yup, sharpies are awful. We have a couple and they are usually stored on top of the refrigerator. Too much damage potential.
Oh no! Not a sharpie!!!
love the close up on the sticky hand
Honestly, washable paints and markers should come with disclaimers, because in large quantities and with the right children, they are SO NOT WASHABLE.
KEEP BELIEVING
Beauty shot. Love the bright colours and the goopy mess. I too bow to Mrs. Inventor for washable paints.
Locking the Sharpies up right now...
Thanks for hosting!
Oh golly, sorry 'bout your futon. This photograph is awesome though, so at least there's that!
I'm in CO Spgs staring out at the mountains @ a Barnes & Noble getting my box-fix happy to read your post with my mouth on the floor dying. I've picked it up now, wiped off my dirty teeth and am back to say, oh dear.
I have some gr8 pics from my trip - can't w82 share. I can only hope your photo-magesty will be as approving as I.
*lovies*
Yes we have a lovely little sharpie artwork on our new bathroom door made by Monkey boy.
My kids have been loving to paint outdoors. I gotta get some more paint.
I take a roll of white paper and spread it across the picnic table, tape it down and away they go.
Love the shot.
I popped the PSF code into the dragonfly post. Sorry. Just impulsively decided to jump in. Will be back next Fri & already have code in there next time.
We have a beautiful old fir door with a warning message to Keep Out of My Room in black Sharpie. And that is why our Sharpies now live on a top shelf in the kitchen.
That is hilarious! My son would make such a mess, but at some point this summer I'm going to plop him out in the backyard with a big piece of paper and some paint.
What a blast it will be!
Sharpies are tools of the devil. I have tried banning them from my house, but Mr. Husband keeps brining them in. And leaving them within the reach of a certain short person. I'm going to take that Sharpie to his face if he doesn't knock it off.
GREAT photo!
Okay, fine. I added my link. I thought that the post had to be just one photo, but if you say it's okay! ;)
Thanks for the invite!
That is an awesome photo!!
Oh no with the sharpie. Though my daughter has managed to etch scribbles into the computer screen. My husband was not happy.
these look so ooey gooey and wonderful... very cool shot!
LOL. Okay, it's not funny. Mine took a marker to the wall over his bed when he was little. Ah, well, now he's in college in graphic design...
how do you get such awesome pictures??? wow! I wouldn't have even thought to take it! that is awesome....
Sorry about the sharpie though--that totally blows. Good job finding the sunny side.
That shot should be entered into stock! And so should the futon shot - now where is THAT one? :)
Mamageek - after being absent for so long I wanted to THANK YOU! for having Photo Story Friday. I really loved playing and LOVED all of the comments the wonderful peeps sent.
Ah I love that picture. It captures the moment. I too am a big fan of messy crafts outside!!! These are the things memories are made of!
I'm back! last to post. Always coming up on the rear. There's go to be some redeeming quality about that, right??
Fab photo!
Very Cool Photo! It actually reminded me of when they're making blown glass, sounds silly but they used to make these lucky ducks where I grew up and that shot for some reason reminded me of them...lol Don't ask.
Okay, YOU are b-r-i-l-l-i-a-n-t. First, with the dog/helmut thing.
And then -- your photography. Seriously, I am in awe of this shot.
Oh. NO!
My daughter was an artist, too, at that age and still has a love of crayons, paints, sidewalk chalk and all things arty.
Word to the wise: hide the scissors and the sharpies. Also, magic eraser does remove almost anything....Good luck with that!
Now I won't grumble so much about the ballpoint pen, the pencil, or the crayon now etched on my couch. We have decided to wait to buy nice things until the kids get older :)
Wow, that particular shot is way way too detailed. I had to stop and do a double take and think about what that long strand of gooey looking stuff was really supposed to be. LOL Makes me glad the stuff is washable too. ;)
Great picture...looks like it's mixed with honey. That's no fun about the futon though, any chance of saving it?
EEEK on the sharpie. That's a very neat picture. Yay for being able to take *most of the* mess outdoors.
