Girl, Uninterrupted.
For the first time since quitting Corporateville 2 years ago, I have been without Toddler 36 hours and counting. He's staying with his grandparents likely living lavishly.
Since dropping him off, I've showered UNINTERRUPTED longer than 5 minutes, I've went an entire day without stepping on a single Matchbox car, I shopped sans whining in the toy aisle and I've held my camera longer than 3 minutes.

I went out for lunch! Dinner! AND ice cream!
But now, well, I don't know what to do with myself. The house is too clean, too quiet. I miss his insatiable curiosity, his infectious giggle and even his toddler 'tude.
I figure this break should recharge my batteries for at least 8 hours after he returns, right?

Haha, good luck with that!! The minute he gets home, that well-rested feeling will promptly disappear! But what a wonderful treat, enjoying some much needed alone time!
And what an incredible picture ~ like usual!! The colours are just stunning.
What a great picture, so clear and such lovely colours.
You should make the most of relaxing while you have a chance!
The minute you get him home, you will think of all the things you could have done.
Are you always looking around, looking for what he is into since it is so quiet??
Gorgeous flowers....love that purple, or purpur as Liv would say.
Aw, it's good for you to take a break from each other. Expands his horizons, and calms yours! :)

Isn't it the best sometimes. I usually get 5 hours every 4 weeks. J didn't schedule my 5 hrs this 4 weeks:( As fast as you recharge, it seems they run you ragged in the first 10 min. Enjoy your you time. Beautiful shot!
I have to say, I am JEALOUS. But glad you got to shower. :)
The flowers are GORGEOUS.
IF (IF) you get a recharge that long, I'd say you've got strong batteries. I love the crisp, vibrant shot - I want those in my house!
awwwwwwwww! It's nice for a short while to be without the kids and then you can remember that you DO love the little stinker! :) You'll need more days like this after the babies are born!
Fun! I'm glad you're having a good time too. The first time my parents took my son, I felt the same way...missed him like crazy! Of course, three hours after he came back I wondered what I had missed! lol
It's always good to get a break. =)
Great photo!
Wow! That sounds fabulous!
Get some rest and put your feet up!
Breaks are good, but it's even better when they (or you) come back home and are back together!
On the rare occasions that we have gone away, I always miss them after the first night
Well, maybe four hours.
I know exactly what you mean. Occasionally, I'll convince myself (and my wife) that I need a break from everyone -- some me time. And I'll go on an overnight trip to some fantastic photographic opportunity. I get so excited for days leading up to the trip -- then I get there, and all I can think about is how much I miss my family.
That's a good thing, right?
you get used to it. but never for too long. ;)
My boys are 18, 15 and 11. I know before long my house will be quiet. I'm not happy about that.
Thanks for hosting!

Sounds like heaven! Especially the showering.
But I completely understand. It's such a double edged sword sometimes.
Those flowers are lovely.
We hear you. All of us find our own levels of balance.
You enjoy the recharge. But I know how you feel about loving the time away, but realizing that when they aren't there something is missing. :)
YES!!! get some rest dammit!!! (and enjoy it lol) lovely flowers btw
I hate to burst your bubble -- but you'll be lucky if it lasts 8 minutes, never mind 8 hours!!
:)
beautiful shot. Savor the down time. :) what a joy.
sorry if my post doesn't have the "photostory friday" link yet...I'm having major blog issues right now.
And then some. :)
Lovely photo. They look so clear and brilliant.
What a nice break and I'm sure a nice return. Love the flowers.
What a nice break for you! I hope that you did lots of sleeping too!
No way, it will only last FIVE MINUTES!! I love having time to myself, but I always miss my kids and love when I see them again, but that feeling never lasts more than 5 minutes. Sometimes it lasts only 30 seconds! Plus you need to cherish these quiet times because you know what's coming soon...
so. beautiful.
Ahhh. Sounds nice. I wouldn't know what to do with myself. A mama needs a break ... can't believe you used it to clean house! But then, if you're nesting, I guess I can believe it. ;)
BTW, I love those flowers! What are they?
I saw an ugly side to myself while reading this post... (envy IS an ugly emotion).
The clarity of that photo-- wow.
Gorgeous photo! I've been taking a lot of my lilacs this year too. :)
Hmm, 8 hours? Maybe... LOL
Oh yes. We ALL need to recharge our batteries from time-to-time! Enjoy the quiet, it won't last. *grin*

Beautiful shot! And enjoy every minute;) Those feelings are fleeting.
That is a beautiful picture, the colour is so gorgeous, it jumps right out of the computer screen at me!!! Amazing.
I'm glad you enjoyed a break . . . so necessary and important for moms. Be sure to try and keep it up after your two lovelies arrive :)
If it's especially enjoyable maybe 10. ;)
Beautiful flowers! How can you look at those and not know that God is great?!
Hahaha!
Eight hours is a long time. It will probably be closer to 2 hours. ;) jk
So glad you are enjoying some alone time. Just lovely. And so are those flowers!!!! Are those lilacs? I've never seen two-toned lilacs. Gorgeous!!!
Ya, 8 hours, maybe even just 6 :)
Love the flowers! Glad you got some time for yourself. :)
Beautiful shot of your flowers! Oh yes, having a break from them is nice, but no matter what you miss the little buggers. Enjoy it while you can, though. You will be missing that clean house 2 seconds after the toddler tornado returns. ;)
Yeah, 8 hours sounds about right...
Glad you've had some time to yourself. You deserve it before those babies enter the world! : )
Well, maybe not a full EIGHT hours, but at least three. :-)
beautiful...
I know what you mean about the quietness...but enjoy as much as you can now.
gorgeous!!!
It should help--for a minute ;P
love the lilacs. Here’s my photo story happy Friday!
Oh girl, I'm jealous. I have no idea what it's like to shower with no interruption. Forget about going to lunch and dinner! You deserve the downtime though...enjoy every second!
Love the flowers(and awesome shot, as usual)! Are they from your garden? And is that a jar? Very cute and creative.
I'm glad you got a break, I'm sure you definitely deserved it. And Toddler is probably having a marvelous time in grandparent land. ;) He'll be back soon enough :)
That picture is SO FREAKING CLEAR AND CRISP!
That photo just jumps off the screen! So vivid and clear! Yowza!
And you should be sleeping and eating bonbons because this isn't coming again anytime soon I suspect. Enjoy it while you can...
Too funny! We long for a break, then when we get one....we're "bored." Enjoy it...rest up a little bit or something! Hope you're feeling well!
Good for you! Enjoy!!
Gorgeous picture.
wow, I am so envious. I could use a kid-free break. I would take 1 day. And I would take a nap, and go shopping alone, and drive around with my car windows down and music blaring... oh, you are so lucky. :)
Oh, 10 hours, at least.
Be careful, you might want to get used it and there's no turning back now with the twins!
You have a lovely blog (and an awesome belly - couldn't help noticing your previous post!) Are you sure you didn't get that picture off a Hallmark site? Wow. Beautiful.
Congratulations on your time off. I'm sure you know to savor it, especially with your bundles of joys on the way.
Hehe, try two hours!! Glad you've had some time to relax though, I'm sure that will be in short supply soon! Absolutely love the pic, captures your relaxed mood beautifully!
The break must be over by now. Do you even remember what it felt like? ;)
Ohhhh a break! What's that?? :)
It's amazing how I wish for some peace and quiet- but when I actually get it- I wish for the noise to be back.
Hi, I'm sorry I tried to find your direct contact info. but I couldn't so I will just send it to you here.
My name is Shanen and I am a student and worker at ASU's New Media Innovation Lab. At work we're developing a site for local moms/parents to trade and barter for items and services. For example, a mom with a new baby could trade her photography skills to get a crib. Each user would set up a profile with the items they want, what they have to trade and what skills they have and the services they are looking for. In order to make this site the best it can be, I've got a few quick questions. The more detail you can give the better. Thanks for your input!
First, is there any interest in a site like this? Do you have any specific recommendations or concerns? Does the idea of trading with people you don't know concern you? If so, what would make you feel safer with the site? Of the following options, which would you prefer?
A receipt/log of your trade/services OR arrange the trade yourself with the other person?
A rating/review system for people you have bartered with similar to EBay, where you cannot delete the reviews, whether good or bad OR an option for recommending someone you bartered with, either through written reviews or a thumbs-up type of system, without being able to write negative reviews that would not be able to be erased?
Of the following options, which would you prefer? An in-depth profile, including photo, interests, skill sets (with references), items wanted and items for trade with an identity verification program OR a simple profile with the same points, but without an identity verification check? Which would you prefer to fill out and which sounds safer?
What do you do with your old items or where do you get used items you need?
What would be alternative ways you obtain these items without spending money?
What would prevent you from using this site?
Feel free to answer whichever questions you like and to choose which questions to pose to readers you think might be interested in this.
Thank you so much for your time. I'd love to hear back your thoughts on this idea and maybe if you could ask some other mom's and people that would be interested in a free service like this! Have a nice day:)
