I Shoulda Been a Hairdresser
For 2 limited months in the 3rd grade I was a full-blown girly-girl.
I was certain I would grow up and become a hairdresser. So certain, I gave all my Barbie dolls the Sinead O' Connor do. Then my Mom took them all away and I was back to tomboy tendencies in no time.
Today was my son's first haircut. At 16 months he was starting to sport a chullet (the child mullet) and needed a trim.
His hairstylist went out of his way to make him happy and comfortable, which in turn, made me happy and comfortable. And very thankful.
Maybe I should embrace my inner girly-girl voice more often.

*melt* I think that's the first time I've seen your little guy and his adorable, pinchable cheeks!
No screaming? No crying? No wailing? WoW. YOu got it good girlie.
And, I'm with Bren, this is the first time I've seen him. He's a cutie patootie.
Oh MG, your little boy is beautiful! What a milestone today!
I think that's the first time I've seen his picture (well, except for maybe one from the back). He is ADORABLE!!!!!!!!
Livin' With Me
Did you save a wee bit of that precious little blond hair??
What a handsome little guy!
I always wait a long time between haircuts for my little boy -- I don't want to cut off his cute curls, but then he always looks cute after the cut too.
Oh wow, there goes my heart. How cute. Now I'd like to see a shot of YOU! :)
Calli
Aww he's adorable.
*pst* I did that to all my Barbies too. *L* But then this coming from the one who can't keep a hairstyle for more than a few months. Or at least a hair color. ;) ...and I'm FAR from girly girl.
Oh, so sweet! The Little Man needs one to, I just can't bear to bring him. Very cute pic.!
Could he BE any cuter?
LOVE the "chullet" comment...I am STILL rolling on that one!
Wow, that brings back memories. My oldest shrieked like he was the main course at a cannibal's ball during his first hair cut, and his second, and his third -- ok, his whole first year of hair cuts.
You've got it good, girl.
How cute is he?! What a cute post too! Hope you had a good day! See ya. Kellan
how cute...yea...you were lucky there was no screaming...our son looked like a girl until he was 3 because he thought it hurt to cut his hair.

How did you get him to sit still?? We are due for Sammy's second hair cut and I am just curious how he is so well behaved?? lol

The Egel Nest
The chullet . . . I love it! He's such a doll. I'll be excited when J's "hair" turns from fuzz or hair.
Very, very cute. I hope you saved the little snippet of hair.
Chullet - very funny!
Chullet! Awesome! He's adorable.
My kids don't need haircuts until they are at LEAST two. Bald babies is what we have. :)
What a cute, well behaved little guy! My daughter sat still like that (she knew our hair stylist) but I have my doubts about The Conqueror. He is just now really getting hair in but it'll be a chullet by summer. Fun post!
Oh my. Major cuteness alert!
Heidi
so cute!! there is almost nothing cuter than a first haircut!!!
he's absolutely precious!!!
get him used to haircuts now because...trust me when i tell you...it can become a major scream-a-thon, if you don't!!!
xo
I had never heard of the phrase chullet before, but I can think of several times I have seen kids with those.
That picture is absolutely adorable! You are a most excellent photographer!!!
Thanks for sharing your special milestone!
He is so cute. I can not believe he just sat there and got a haircut. You are so lucky.
He looks so cute there! I wish I had some place to take my 17 month old.
My mother cut his hair a few days ago while he and I played with water.
He seems so calm! What a cutie!
hahaha I like the term, "chullet."
what a cutie pie. Our sons are so close in age.. too bad you don't live here.. I can almost smell the play date!
Chullet be gone!
Great picture. Thanks for the linky love. ;)
Oh you are kidding! Look at him! What an absolute doll!
I love black and white pics. They capture so much emotion. Just a great pic!
And yes, I'm a cheesehead from WI. So nice to finally meet another WI blogger. I was beginning to think I live out in the bloggy boondocks. ;)
Look at that little man - priceless!
Awe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, our Pics of my oldests 1st hair cut look like we are tourturing him, and he still screqams to this day. Both of my sons are in need of a hair cut, it will be the lil one's 1st. But I am scared and I like his curls :P
Great pic, he is adoreable.
Woohoo, congrats!! How cute is he??? My kids cried too.
He's just so precious sitting there like a good little boy. Lucky!!
I've been dreading this one. His hair is dangerously close to getting in his eyes :-o
Did you go to a special stylist? Was it as bad as I'm fearing? Will you be doing it again? Any tips? Other than to your obviously talented stylist?
Be still my chullet loving heart. ADORABLE!
Frani
Dude. Cute.
So cute! Bear is 12 months and starting a chullet. He'll need a trim soon too but I hate it because it always makes them look older!
"Chullet" -- ROTFL! I love it! He is just beyond adorable!!!
Oh and you've been tagged at my blog. Of course, don't feel like you have to do it...only if you want to. ;)

AWE, that first hair cut makes them so much more grown up looking!
That is one thing I don't have to think about over here- no boy cuts...but lots of braids and piggy tails. You have a very cute son. How nice of the hairdresser to be so thoughtful too. Did you keep a lock of hair?
Glad the hairdresser helped him to be comfy....there's this barber we go to and Matt got the hang of calling him Tito barber! he likes it there and even asks for him the other day..
LOL @ the chullet :)
Love it!
He's so sweet, by the way!
Darling picture. He's beautiful. I'm glad the milestone went so well!
The first time I've seen your sweetie! How adorable!!!
Those first haircuts are pretty monumental, aren't they??
OH darling, I feel you! We just went through this! That pic is precious! He is too too cute!!!
Oh this picture is too sweet. You really captured this moment beautifully.
I hacked at all my Barbie's hair as well!
Now that just melts my chocolate! Oh so sweet your handsome little guy! Give them cheeks some sugar, please!
Awww! Precious photo!
He is so adorable....
He's adorable. I remember the first haircuts and all the crying . . . I have pictures somewhere.
Thanks for participating in this week's Carnival of Family Life, hosted at Diary of 1!!
Chullet...that's great.
Your little one is a doll.
