My Celebrity Connections
Painted Maypole commented she saw Vince Vaughn and Peter Billingsley in a bar in L.A one night. It struck a chord.
I've only seen 3 celebrities at an arm's distance in my entire LIFE.

Bill and I shared an elevator in a Cleveland hotel. Dave breathed on me before a concert in Chicago. Britney strutted near me on the Vegas strip.
I know. [Yawn]. But it's all I got.
I don't watch E!. I have no idea how many kids make up Team Brangelina. Yet given the choice between Newsweek, Time and People magazine at the dentist, I shamelessly admit to choosing People. Every time.
If I were ever to see Meryl Streep or Bono, even from a distance, my knees would give out and my voice would get all squeaky.
Come on ... what's your celebrity connection?

Toby Keith is a family friend. He is my aunt and uncle's neighbor!
I am so boring, I have never see a celebrity except when I use to go to concerts.
I was pulled onstage at a Chris Isak concert and danced with him. Sadly, it didn't pan out for me like it did for Courtney Cox...
I've also passed Robert Downey Jr.
Blessings,
K
I go to Vegas for business all the time and have never seen anyone remotely famous!
No connections - I got no autographs, I got no pictures - I got nothing (a post I did on this very subject - never met not one single famous person - ever). See you later. Have a good Tuesday. Kellan
I met Didi Conn when I was in the third grade. I drew her a picture. She totally told me she was going to put it on her fridge. Now whenever I watch Grease I feel like I have a friend on the screen. Even if she is a beauty school dropout.
Beat that (Just kidding. I know I'm a celebrity loser)!!
I've seen many being that I used to work in Special Events at a major 'celebrity' location. I've danced with Alec Baldwin and didn't even realize it. Will Smith, Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Brooke Shields, Andre Agasi are just a few ... let me tell you, they are just people and most of them aren't even that nice...although, Tom Hanks is a sweetheart. I'm really not impressed by celebrities. If anything, they have more to prove. ;)
~melody~
Just no interest whatsoever. I live in Hong Kong and there are always some local stars or another performing at the shopping complex downstairs from my apartment. No way am I going to line up with all those screaming teenagers to get a glimpse of whoever it is!
I seem to remember skiing near Rhea Pearlman and Danny DeVito in Park City, I followed my brother following Sir Elton around the airport in Nice, France (it was before he became popular again & I just thought he dressed like a freak)...but that's about it.
None. Nada.
I don't think they come up to Canada. Too cold.
I'm still trying to picture Vince Vaughn and Peter Billingsly together at a bar . . .
I have no connections whatsoever. Unless you count seeing the ship's doctor guy from the original Star Trek ahead of me in the ticket line at an airport. Apparently he travels like the rest of us when the Enterprise is docked.
My husband was in a book store and he saw Donald Sutherland. He almost said "hi" because he thought "who is this guy...I know him from somewhere."
I met Kevin Spacey (one of my favorite actors of all time) and got all stupid and tongue-tied. Figures.
For the most part, they're just people, and some are best seen in movies than in person. Kevin Spacey's a good guy, though :-)
Nope...none....never met anyone unless I paid to see them at a concert!
Malcolm Jamal Warner was on a flight my husband and I took during our honeymoon; I knew he was famous but couldn't place him. Theo, from the Cosby Show, had grown up and I thought he was a rapper I had seen on the news. The rep from the cruise ship we were going on told us who he was.
I met poet Allen Ginsberg briefly once and that was a huge honor, considering he passed away just a few years later. Greg Brady(aka Barry Williams) did a thing at a freshman orientation and I got to do a skit/dance with him. That was a thrill.
Other than that, no big celeb encounters for me.
My brother and I lined up from 4am to be an extra in a Jackie Chan movie. We eventually 'got in' at around 10 in the morning. We saw him go for lunch at a Chinese restaurant and followed him in but lost him on the inside. We went back outside to stand around and after some time, I realized that he was standing next to me observing. He was soooo inconspicuous! Got my autograph. Yay!
Wow, those celeb spottings are pretty cool. I am not sure I have ever been close to anyone famous. I have been to many concerts. I saw Bruce Willis kinda close outside the AC Planet Hollywood singing. I did snap a pic! I take the cake on boringness.
Cool! (And you so need to give up People for US Weekly...their info is way better. *grin*)
I'm in PR/advertising and have had several brushes with celebs - lots of music artists (I golfed with Faith Hill, went to a fashion show with 50 Cent) actors (Johnny Knoxville is cute and funny) and have met both Hillary and W.
I saw Wynona Judd at the airport in Nashville and Cher walking down the street with her body guards in Beverly Hills. Stacy London from What Not to Wear sat next to me in the restaurant in the Omni in Chicago. I kissed Scott Baio on the cheek when I was little. I shook hands with Sarah Ferguseon, the Duchess of York. That's about all for me...
I don't think I've *ever* seen a celebrity.
My knees would go weak at the sight of Bono, too. And George Clooney. Oh my. I need to cool down.
Heidi
I was in an elevator with Tom Hanks once, and one of my friends is/was Dave Matthews' workout buddy for a while after meeting at the gym.
And I sat 2 rows behind Peter Boyle at a string quartet concert in Venice...before he died :(
His head was very shiny.
I waited on Richard Dreyfuss once.... he was a jerky.
I lived in Southern California until I was 21 so I've seen more than my fair share of celebrities. I once got into an argument with Jeremy Piven at a Malibu bar--I was tipsily trying to convince him that he was in Can't Buy Me Love and he was vehemently disagreeing. I think he was a little pissed that I didn't recognize him from Ellen.
I once saw Brad Pitt (and Jennifer A at the time) in NYC. Yawn. Not so nice either.

James Earl Jones and Alec Baldwin. They each led separate master classes on acting that I attended, and they were both positively lovely.
No 'real' celebrity connections for me. The closest thing I have to a celebrity connection is through my church. One of the sportscasters for the local ABC channel is married to the music director at my church.
I sat next to Drew Carrey, Kathy Kinney, Greg Proops, and Jeff Davis in a Burger King at the St. Louis Air Port. I stood next to Drew at the condiment bar and didn't realize it. I think he was wearing some kind of get-up. Kathy (Mimi) was flirting with my then 18 month old daughter but I didn't recognize her either because she wasn't in her Mimi make up.
Well... I was at the Oprah (Obama) rally this weekend, and I got to see Oprah's head over a sea of 14000 people? I don't think that counts? But whatever, it was Oprah!
-HH
My biggest? Meeting and talking with Bruce Springsteen. He was presenting an award to Sean Penn -- yeah I met him too, whatever -- and I was involved in the organization bestowing the award. I worked at The Chronicle, so I met Sharon Stone. Never liked her. Then, again, I'm a friend of her ex, so...Who else? Saw Jeff Daniels in an airport. Some moron ran up saying, "Wow, you're Jeff Bridges." Hee hee hee.
I've met a lot of major sports players but never a per say celebrity.
I agree with some others, I guess I'm boring too. It doesnt really hurt my feelings that I've not met any.
I have not met too many celebrities - but I do work for Canada's prime Minister and I run into him a far amount...in fact I have an email thread that started with him and ended with me! In it he requests a new report and comments that whoever does the Global Comparison report would be perfect for this new report....and that is ME!!!!!
But, I cannot recall meeting anyone "really big!"
Thanks for sharing - love your blog!
Oh, I was introduced to Stevie Wonder during a visit to LA in 1995(my sorority sister worked for Motown then). I wanted to take a picture but was afraid to ask.
oh... i lived in LA and worked in the theatre, so I have even more than vince vaughn and peter billingsly... here are a few:
served a drink to John C Reilly and Mercedes Reuhl (not at the same time)
sold theatre tickets TO Geena Davis
met Matthew Glave (the jerk fiancee from The Wedding Singer)
went to college with Kimberly Williams
did a scene in an acting class with the now famous R&B singer Jill Scott
I have worked with lots of people who I see in small roles on TV from time to time, most recently i knew people on Desperate Housewives (the old dying aunt of the creepy new family) and the father of Parkman on Heroes.
there's a few for you. :)
one of our favorite LA celebrity stories is that my husband's office was right across from the shrine auditiorium. When they still held the oscars there a policemen held traffic - the first car of which was Tom Cruise - so that my hubby could pull out of his parking lot.
This is going to sound odd, but I run into celebrities more than you would think...The weirdest, and saddest is, I ran into Chirs Farley the weekend before he died he was with that stripper/girl and she commented on loving my hair (weird). I went to Vail to ski and read in the paper that he had died and that stripper/girl was all over the news talking about it...fwiw. Others John Mellencamp (short), The Spice Girls (Baby, and Mel B), someone from a soap (Mike Horton?), Keanu Reeves (short), Aaron Eckhart (so hot!), Jeremy Piven (short/bald). I just run into people at really strange places and I don't know why? Sorry this got so long:)
Ok, so nobody comes to little town Michigan. I did see the guy (not Jim Carrey) from the Dumb and Dumber movie, in an airport once. I was way too chicken to say anything because I wasn't sure if it was even him. Went home watched the movie (Hubby loves it) and realized it was actually him.
well, suzanne sommers was at the same store in toronto, as i was...like 1000 years ago. she was shopping with her hubby.
keanu reeves was at a bar in birmingham, mi...sitting practically next to me...i was too shy to strike up a conversation :(
at an art fair in birmingham, i ran over an actor...whose name annoyingly escapes me,right now...was dating julia ormond for a while... i ran over his foot with my stroller and he said excuse me. i turned bright red, apologized and ran off!
i'm quite the conversationalist!
I met the Indigo Girls backstage after a concert. And I sang in a concert that the president of Lithuania attended.
Woot!
I grew up in a small town near where Tim McGraw is from. We went to the same college together and I saw him play a couple of small college bars. Of course, that's before he made it big so nobody gave a crap about him. Somewhere I have a drunk picture of me and some friends at a table and Tim is on the stage in the background.
My life is gray in that area -and actually in most areas. :D
I met Harry Hamlin once on the set of the Outer Limits (the TV show). I was there because I organized a promo where one of my company's customers won a trip to the set to watch filming. Harry was the guest star for the episode they were shooting. He seemed put out that he had to shake the hands of our winners, a programmer from Texas and his sweeter-than-sweet wife. I'm certain he sprayed Lysol all over himself after we left.
I was a dancer for a Much Music show called Electric Circus (it's a Canadian thing). I got to meet several celebs through there. My favourite I thought would have to be Shawn Desman. I was in love with the guy lol. He's not super famous like Bono or Brittney ... but hes super yummy.
well....the best I have is .....FABIO! LOL I met him at an airport and my friends and I had our picture taken with him. all I could think of was, "I can't beleive it is not butttaaaa...." tee hee
I laughed so hard on this! You are truly a gifted comedian, m'dear!...I use to work for Peter Funt of Candid Camera...we officed out of Alan Funt (his dad's) house. Met Dena Eastwood, but never her hubbie, Clint. And there ya have it. There was somebody else years ago but not so important I can even remember.
(Mine's up - another real foto from NY!) Happy WW :)
No connections here. Not a single one.
Our Happy Happenings
You probably read my Matt Damon story. I have also met: Gwen Stefani, Mariah Carey, Donatella Versace, Courtney Love, Andy Garcia, Carey Elwes, Randy Quaid, Christina Applegate, Alicia Silverstone, John Irving, Mario Testino, Bruce Weber, Alek Wek, Tyson Beckford, k.d. lang, Robbie Williams, Shannon Doherty, Rick Solomon, Alfred Molina, Natasha Lyonne, Michael Eisner, Natalie Portman, Juliana Marguiles, Sonny Bono, Pink Martini, ugh. And more. Can't even think of them all. Happens when you grow up in Palm Springs.
I was in the same bar with the guys from the Cure (I was waaay into them at the time). The keyboard player kissed me on the cheek. I think I freaked out, ran out the door and almost got hit by a car. Ah, dignity.
Once when I was a lil girl, Chuck Norris was signing autographs at my local movie theatre. It wasn't very exciting.
If I ever saw Robert Downney Jr, Angelina Jolie or Oprah, I'd proably crap my pants. ;)
I had my picture taken with David Hasselhoff at the World of Wheels....
Met Clinton Kelly (from What Not to Wear) at a book signing, had my picture taken with him, and said just enough to make him think I was insane. Other than that, I got nothing.
I tagged you after finding you on the Frugal Hack blog. I hope you will join in the meme, but what I wish you'd reveal is how you get so many commenters! I want commenters too!
Of course your blog is great, but I work hard on mine too and I don't get many comments. Can you help?
I had only seen one or two until I went to Bahams last Spring. There I saw, Jeremy Piven, Michael Jordan, Usher, Scotty Pippen, Jesse Metcalf (Desperate Housewives), Mos Def, and one other basketball player that I cna't remember. It was crazy! And I was so start struck!
James Taylor, I met him after a concert in Japan, also Sean Astin, Christopher Moore & Alton Brown, all met at book signings.
Wow, that's more impressive than ME!!
My only brush with a celebrity is seeing Rob James (a top 10 contestant on CANADIAN Idol) in the dust-buster aisle in Wal-Mart.
Whoop-dee-do.
The hubby and I go to author signings once in a while. Sometimes we have been the only ones there and the author will just sit and talk to us. It's cool. Not sure authors count as celebrities.
I forgot to mention, I literally ran into Prince Charles at Stratford Upon Avon (short) and I bumped into Stephen King on the street in front of my house (tall, kindo creepy)...
Loni Anderson's daughter taught at the high school I went to - I also met Kevin Costner when he visited our school while filming the Bodyguard.
I saw Pope Shenouda III of Alexandria at O'Hare Airport last year. He looked like an old man in a wheelchair, but he had all kinds of bodyguards around him. The flights were delayed and they parked him at our gate for an hour.
I also saw Peter Graves thirty years ago in an airport. His white hair was striking.
