Absolutely NOT
My husband works long hours at the office. When he gets home each night, my son, my dog and myself are all anxiously awaiting his arrival.
This week he's traveling in Texas on business. I so wish I could go along and chat, drink coffee and slam some tea with my brilliant Texan friends.
My son wakes up at the @ss crack of dawn by 5:30 AM. When the stars align and the moon is full, he'll nap for 1 hour. He relentlessly crashes at 8:30 pm.
So when my husband travels and the days are a bit longer, I have learned to milk the everyday activities.
Daily walks turn into marathons. Instead of reading 15 books, we read 45 and very s-l-o-w-l-y. A 20 minute bath turns into 60 minutes of spa-tacular activity. 'Hide and seek' often just becomes 'hide'.
Last night my Mom asked if I would mind if they slept over to help out.
Do I mind? Let me think about that for 1 nanosecond. Absolutely NOT!
I'm fairly certain I heard "Hallelujah" playing in the distance.

Oh, I'm so honored you'd think of me as worthy of a visit. And, how strange that I'm about to post something with my kid's early rising...and used ass crack of dawn to describe it??
Bahahahaha!
"'Hide and seek' often just becomes 'hide'."
Love it!
I know the feeling. I'm dreading my husband's week long business trip next month. The only thing that will make it wonderful is knowing that as soon as it is over he will be off for like 3 weeks straight. Yes, that will make it all worth it.
Oh, and AWESOME for the parents bailing you out!! My mom's coming on Wed for something similar. I wish mine were nearby. At least you've got that!
OMG, I actually just snorted out loud. I can hear the song playing as the heaven rejoices for you!
so happy you would have time to chat....Husband says I can talk to just about anyone!
We are still getting up at those unGodly hours as well....but on the upside...they were both in bed by 7:15!
I would so be rejoicing if someone took them for a night!
Oh, man! My son gets up at 6:30 and I was feeling like that was early!
I've realized I need/want to accept help when it's offered, as well. So funny that you included the notes from the Hallelujah chorus. Enjoy!
Love the Hallalujah chorus in the background!! You made me laugh.
ENJOY your break!!!
Mom-omni-potent REIGNETH!
oh, how I can relate! my hubby also travels a lot and then complains at how tired he is from his trip. (sigh)
I will have to try the Hide and Seek game. Sounds like a great idea!!!

LOL!!! My daughter is also a morning person. It was 5:30 also for us this morning... stupid daylight savings!!!
Oh I love the family visits too. Yes, please, stay for a month! I need the support!
This was so funny! I loved this: 'Hide and seek' often just becomes 'hide'.!! You are too funny! See ya.
I loved this post! Amen, sistuh on extending the books, bath and loved your "hide and seek often just becomes hide!"
So, now that we changed the time back...our household is awaking at ...5ish. It is hellish.
So jealous of a mom that lives close by...
Oh, I am longing to hear Hallelujah!
I am soooooooooo glad your mom came to the rescue. tee hee....that rocks. :)
ah yes, I, too, have discoverd the art of making everything an "event" I also keep a closet full of garage sale finds for just such an event... a new toy or video goes a LONG way on days like those!
Did your parents know that 'hide and seek' turns into just 'hide' when hubster is away, so they came over to save the grandson?
Tell me your secret, so I know for next time I'm alone.
Heidi
I know that Halelujah Chorus! We used to stand to sing it at church.. it's a magnificent song just like thousands of angels sing to glory the Lord!
WFM I am so grateful that you always keep in touch with me! *hugs* and hey, your mom is coming to help? That's really great! I always love when my mom sleep over with us at weekends. hugs to your mom!

'Hide and seek' often just becomes 'hide'. OMG, so funny!
I am feeling your pain, sister. DST sucks as I have lamented often lately.
Oh, and after your folks are done at your house, send 'em to mine, I could use a break, too! (:
Hallelujiah! I can just imagine. My mother is a total lifesaver! I'm sure mothers are! (Oh wait, that last one sounds like a self-serving statement..hahaha.)
Excellent, I'm so glad you will have overnight help. The break will be wonderful, I'm sure. Sounds like you are managing pretty well though solo (just don't let your husband know).
I hope your week goes by quickly. My Hubby was in the Navy and was gone ALOT so I can completely relate with the long days. That was when I started Friday Night Movie Nights, I needed a popcorn break at the end of the week! http://momof4girls.blogspot.com/
Sorry your hubby is on travel but YAY for the parents.
It is tough when the other is gone. We've got another five days of it. Thank goodness your parents are not only willing to help but that you like them! An added bonus.
Ah Yes- Dawn's ass crack. I am much to familiar with it.
Enjoy the help!

'Hide and seek' often just becomes 'hide'....perfect!
Isn't it amazing how the idea of having mom and dad (or inlaws) visit changes dramatically after you have kids.
I used to say to the hubster "oh damn, my dad is coming by"
Now its "THANK GOD PAPA IS ON HIS WAY TO HELP!"
Hallelujah is right! Parent's are the best! A big AMEN to that!
I can so relate to that -- it's all about stretching the time. Luckily I have trained my kids to sleep late (like me).
You have helpful parents? I can't imagine what that must be like.
LOL I needed that good laugh! I feel you sister girl! It's like, "What took you so long to ask???"
Allelulia is right! It's hard when you are playing the role of single parent!
I SO know what you mean! My husband is leaving in December for a week. and I am already gearing up for the disruption in our schedule... I so feel for you! And I LOVE that hide and seek becomes HIDE. LOL
I so know what you mean. And I get it. Hallelujah is exactly right!
When hubby's away my kids get a bath every night. Just so I can keep them occupied in one area for 45 minutes. Sometimes two baths depending on how tired I am. And so I can sit on the toilet lid and zone out while they play. And Mac-n-cheese and pbj's are nightly entrees.
I'm cracking up at the hide and seek joke!
My hubby works long hours this time a year so I know what you mean. I keep saying I didn't sign up for single parenting.
It's nights like those that remind me to thank my Lucky Stars that I'm not in this parenting thing alone.
I'm at home, by myself. It's silent. All you can hear is me LMAO. Well, not really, 'cause it's still there, and it's still big. It was the hide remark that got me go'n.
I love it when my kids play "hide!" Except last time they did that they were hiding in the back yard, naked.
why don't my parents ask to take the kids for a night??
how fantastic!
You mean, a night at home, completely alone? Why aren't I you?
As the husband of a traveling wife...I TOTALLY understand!

OOHHHHHH!!! LUCKY!!!
Well, except for the *husband being out of town* thing. That's tough...I'm feeling for ya right now :-(
Good Lord, I wish my Mom lived closer. I would love some help now and then...enjoy it!
Mine get up at the ass crack of dawn too... well 6:30a if we're lucky. Including Saturdays.
"'Hide and seek' often just becomes 'hide'."
Omg I so know that one!! This happens ALMOST on a daily basis lol.
WFM, do you mind if I tag you? This is a great tag.. you are to share the proudest moment in your life!

I specialize in the long bath. In fact, your post just prompted me to write my own post about said long bath. Thanks!
Ohhh boy! do I hear you?!
Hubby has just gone away for work for two weeks, up at sparrow's fart this morning, the wee man has a nap at preschool today (whattt??! The planets must have aligned...dammn!), and it takes till about ten minutes ago to get him to sleep. AAArrrgghhhh...I want MY mummy! :p
Bless you and your parents. These are precious times, so enjoy them. Too soon the kids are teenagers, the parents gone. I have a lot of memories of grandparent time with my kids that can never be replaced.
