How To Stop Hiccups
I read this tip on how to get rid of hiccups in Parents magazine.
To cure hiccups simply drink a glass of water (or any liquid beverage of your choice) while having someone else put pressure right under and behind both of your ears.
The famous ,"They", states this technique has never failed.
We're still waiting to try it out. I'm hoping it works for me!

Hiccups remind me of my Grandfather. He took great delight in scaring hiccups out of us. Thanks for reminding me! Now that he's gone, I need a new cure.
Hmmmph, I am going to HAVE to try this...
I will definitely have to try out this one!
Blessings,
Karla
I think the best one is to get the person with hiccups talking about something where they have to remember stuff or come up with hard answers. Seems to always work to get rid of the 'ups' just by making said person concentrate.
Drinking really does work, but I had never heard of putting pressure behind both ears.
Try this one - Take a Drink, but don't swallow. Plug your ears. Now swallow. Works every time.
Interesting. Course my crazy tyke likes getting them & cries when they go away. I'll try it for me.
You can never trust "they" or "them".
They'll always lead you astray. ;)
Pixelmuser.
Great tip! I'll have to try it if our tried and true method doesn't work: when my 5yo has hiccups I give him a tablespoon of lemon juice - that stops his hiccups 99% of the time!
Taking twenty gulps of water in one breath has always worked for us, but we'll have to try this, too.
It sounds like it would work better for little kids.
Thanks for the tip.
I'll have to remember that one--"BOO!" just doesn't seem to work :)
Found yor blog via WFMW. Glad I did.
hmmmm I'll remember that next time I have the hiccups. :)
My husband has a fool proof method. He tells whoever has the hiccups that if they hiccup again, he will give them $10 (a quarter works for little kids). He hasn't ever had to pay anyone and you get a good kick out of watching someone try to hiccup.
I usually just hold my breath. Drinking water sounds better.
I hope I remember this the next time someone get hiccups. I just want to see if it really works or not.
If you plug your nose while drinking water, it works too!
I can totally vouch for this method. I learned this trick a few years ago and it hasn't failed me yet.
Can I use straw? :)
I can't believe nobody has mentioned my favorite method. Eat a spoonful of sugar. Works every time. We carry sugar packets in the car for hiccup emergencies.
I will have to remember this, I HATE getting the hiccups!
